AH&P wins further awards
In September 2013 Aberdeen Heat & Power were very proud to receive a Global District Energy Climate Award, for Excellence for a small and medium sized business. The awards scheme operated through the International Energy Association (IEA) is a bi-annual scheme which attracted around 25 entries from around the world. Aberdeen was the first British City to win such an award. An accolade indeed. The award was collected on behalf of the company by Director Michael King and Leader of Aberdeen City Council, Councillor Barney Crockett at a prestigious award ceremony in New York. This was indeed a proud moment in the development of the company and the award came at a time when the company was embarking on the set up of a subsidiary company – District Energy Aberdeen Limited (DEAL) – to develop private sector connections for the expansion of the district heating network.
The Company continues to develop at a pace which is manageable and sustainable, and has now reached 2350 domestic connections and 15 public buildings supplied from affordable low carbon heat sources, through combined heat and power.
This was a proud moment for Aberdeen Heat & Power and also for Aberdeen City Council who had the drive and foresight to set up Aberdeen Heat & power in 2002, but in November 2015 along came another award!
It was another very proud moment for Aberdeen Heat & Power when we won a VIBES (Vision In Business Environment Scotland) Award at a ceremony on Edinburgh. Having applied first time in this award scheme we were absolutely surprised and delighted to win the award under the category of Product or Service. Quite apart from the prestigious pomp and ceremony of the occasion winning such awards raises the profile of Aberdeen Heat & Power and also of District Heating in Scotland
