Controlling your heating system

RECOMMENDED TEMPERATURE

Maintaining temperatures between 18-24°C should ensure a warm, comfortable home.

The average recommended temperatures for heating your home in Scotland are:

  • Main living area 21-22°C (24c for those more vulnerable to cold)
  • Hallways, bedrooms and bathrooms 18°C
  • Minimum ‘fall-back’ temperature 16°C (the lowest temperature you should set heating to)

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONTROLS

Your programmer is the Honeywell Home T3 Thermostat.

This is a thermostatic programmer, which means your heating will automatically switch off when your set temperature is reached. It will then switch off and on automatically to maintain your set temperature.

There are three device settings, Manual, Auto and Off, and you choose between these settings on the digital display. For manufacturers guidance please see product information guidance on the manufacturer’s website, which can be accessed at the following location http://hwll.co/T3_pdfs

The programmer is preinstalled with the following ‘Auto’ settings, which you can change to suit your lifestyle.

In this example your heating will:

  1. Bring the temp in your home to 21°c at 6.30am and will maintain this temp until the next period
  2. Switch off at 8.00am, and will stay off until next period, unless the temp in your home drops below 16°c
  3. Will switch on to bring the temp in your home up to 21°c at 6.00pm, maintaining this temp until next period
  4. Switch off at 10.30pm, and will stay off until next period unless temp in your home drops below 16°c

In operation the standard display on the programmer will show the time, the current temperature in the room where the programmer is installed (hallway), and whether the heating is currently on (denoted by a flame next to the temperature).

The + and – buttons to the side of the digital display can be used to turn the heating up or down at any time.

More buttons can be accessed by lifting the front cover.

Push any of the 3 buttons below the screen and this will change the display to show the current heating control settings.

From here as well as the current room temp, you can see the set target temperature for the current time period (you can set temp for 4 time periods in each 24 hour period), and whether the system is on timer (auto) or manual. It will also show the on/off button and the menu button.
